Patricia Neely-Dorsey |
National Poetry Month has been an exciting time of celebration for Mississippi Poet Patricia Neely-Dorsey. Patricia is the author of two volumes of poetry embracing the beauty of her southern home state, “Reflections of a Mississippi Magnolia: A Life in Poems” and “My Magnolia Memories and Musings: In Poems.” She considers herself a Goodwill Ambassador for Mississippi and the South. Her objective is to promote more positive images of her fair state to reduce the stereotypical and negative perception and images that are typically portrayed in the south. During National Poetry Month, Patricia traveled throughout the state speaking at a myriad of literary events, to promote her love of poetry as she touched the hearts of audiences ranging from elementary students to adults.
Today, we’re featuring one of her stellar poems about the great state of Mississippi, duly titled “Mississippi Through and Through.”
Patricia uses the art of storytelling to educate and entertain audiences who share many of the familiar experiences she speaks about through her poetry. Both volumes of Patricia's books of poetry can be purchased on Amazon.com or at local bookstores around Tupelo.
