During the month of February, we celebrate Great American Pies Month. A pie is a baked dish which is usually made of a pastry dough casing that covers or completely contains a filling of various sweet or savoury ingredients.
The American Pie Council® (APC) is the only organization committed to preserving America's pie heritage and promoting American's love affair with pies. Designed to raise awareness, enjoyment and consumption of pies, and to grow and improve the pie industry, the American Pie Council offers you access to all information that they have available for the pie baking industry. Each year the American Pie Council hosts the National Pie Championships® where amateur, professional and commercial pie bakers can compete in their categories for the best pies in the country.
You don't have to compete in a pie championship in order to enjoy a tantalizing slice of pie. So today, celebrate Great American Pies Month by having a slice of your favorite pie. While you're at it, be sure to grab you a slice of poetry and a cup of tea, while getting lost in those moments of sweet bliss!
