Straight from the Heart Poetry Night integrated artistic platforms

On Saturday night, February 22nd, The Indian Trail Cultural Arts Center was filled with a poetic, multi-genre evening that was complimented with poetry, art and music. The Straight from the Heart Poetry Event was the first in a series of other poetry readings and events planned for 2014. Those who shared a poem or listened to the recitals had the chance to experience heart-related poetry about love, a favorite Valentine memory or of nature.

Dwight Roth presented his poems with music and a painting he created for one of the poems dedicated to his wife Ruth.
Audience members had the chance to participate in the construction of an Acrostic poem, using the word “Heart.” An Acrostic poem uses the first letter of each line to spell out a word, name or phrase when read vertically. Typically, this type of poem could be presented with a sentence, as well as with one word, to form the word or phrase it is meant to portray. The following poetic expression was in commemoration of Valentine’s Day and Creative Romance Month:

Hope
Everlasting
Affection
Reflection
Treasure
