The Victoria Tea Festival

The Victoria Tea Festival, located in Victoria, BC was organized in 2007 as a fundraiser for Camosun College’s Child Services. This two-day event took place at the former Crystal Gardens and receives thousands of visitors each year. Proceeds from this festival go towards on-campus childcare and financial support.

Many companies displayed their own select brews and variety of teas. The Victoria Tea Festival has grown into the largest public tea exhibition over the last six years in North America. Daniela Cubelic, tea master and owner of Silk Road stated, “Every tea has a story.” Her one-hour workshop revealed how professional tea buyers find the best quality brew. Through methods of taste, smell and sight, a lot can be revealed about the history and life of the tea plant. Visitors learned what to look for and to avoid confusing intensity with complexity.
