Haiku Friday by Stash Tea

Stash Tea invites you to share your Haiku compositions on Fridays. You can post your Haiku on their Facebook page. A Haiku is a very short form of Japanese poetry. Theme vary from nature, experiences or emotions. Some contests will give you a theme to write about. Haiku was previously called Hokku. The Japanese writer Masaoka Shiki gave this form of poetry the name Haiku at the end of the 19th century.

Although short, A Haiku should paint a mental image in your reader’s mind in conjunction with the poem’s meaning. A Haiku does not rhyme. The first line of Haiku contains 5 syllables, the second line contains 7 syllables and the third line contains 5 syllables. This poetry form uses simple words and grammar.
